A Trip to Berlin

Hi all,

last weekend Jesse and I decided to take the short trek to Berlin and spend a couple days in the big city.  We took off on Friday, arriving in Berlin and checking into our hotel in the afternoon.  We went down to Steglitz in southwest Berlin, to check out a gaming store, since Jesse needed dice for his online game.  We also went to a book store where Jesse bought a copy of Grimm's Fairy Tales auf Deutsch.  Then we hit a tapas restaurant nearby to get a quick bite to tide us over until dinner before going back to our hotel to relax a bit.

After a while, we headed off to Hackischer Markt to meet my friend Sydney and her boyfriend, Peter, at the Sixties Diner.  It was great getting to hang out a bit; the four of us had a great conversation.  Then Jesse and I wanted to catch a movie, since there is no movie theater in Löcknitz.  We headed off to Potsdamer Platz and caught the new Thor movie (a week before it came out in the U.S. - ha!), which was pretty good.

Potsdamer Platz
On Saturday we ate some breakfast and then took a walk down to the Oberbaumbrücke, which I wanted to see because of its role in the movie Run Lola Run, and the East Side Gallery, a spot I never quite got to when I was studying abroad in Berlin. We then walked to Alexander Platz and had some ice cream.

After relaxing at the hotel for a while, Jesse decided he had a craving for burritos, so we did a quick search and ended up at a place called Dolores near Alexander Platz.  They have some pretty darn good burritos, so good that we devoured them before I remembered that I should have taken a photo.

Then on Sunday we went to Prenzlauer Berg to hit Kauf dich Glücklich, a cafe with great waffles, and the Mauerpark flea market where I bought a hat.  We then got on a train back to Löcknitz and were home in two hours or so.

Until next time,
Amy
